Inserting the dominant 7th

This weekend we will look at turning a standard 1-6-4-5 progression into a more dynamic and interesting progression. Keeping away from complex music theory, we will simply describe this by using the diagrams of chords below.

  • Now try inserting the dominant 7th for each of the chords in the progression. The progression now becomes C—E7—Am—C7—F—D7—G. Have fun!
